"Flashes and flashes..." →
Coming from a storm-heavy area like Tampa, it’s funny to see people reacting to lightning like it’s a nuclear bomb. Apparently LA doesn’t get lightning very much.

Commenting on the Commentary
‘Donte Bogan’ and ‘smeltering hot’ is how the commentators are opening this game. This should be a good day. For those of you who aren’t aware, the Bulls receiver’s name is Dontavia, not Donte and there is no such phrase as ‘smeltering hot’. In fact, my spell check says that smeltering isn’t even a word.
I just had to write this before I...
And the Oscar goes to...
I know I’m late, but I made it to LA.
I’ve been hanging out with the Thackers for about two days now. I guess that good ol’ southern hospitality followed them out here because there is no way anyone could stand me for that long otherwise.
I’m going to start looking for my own place to live this weekend. I have a lot of places to check out mostly in Long Beach which is...
I'm burning my car after this.
I never want to drive again. Almost out of Texas. Yup. Almost. I’ll be in Cali tonight. Hey, are you ready LA? No? Well hurry up and get your clothes on! I’m commin’ in!
Today was a long day. A LOOOOOOOOONG day. I drove a little farther than I originally planned (to Tucson) so that I won’t have to go so long tomorrow. Here’s an interesting fact that I learned today. A=B=C. Now, A is west Texas, B is ALL of New Mexico, and C is east Arizona.
Two major bright spots in the drive today were both in the last two hours of the long haul. I literally drove...
Mississippi, Luh-easy-anna, and Castles
Today was a long drive, but the scenery did a lot to spice up the monotony. After I left the Florida trees, I sped past the swamps of Mississippi and Louisiana, right into the grassy hills of east Texas. I think the most impressive thing I saw along the way was a Bass Pro Shop the size of Cinderella’s Castle at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. I’m pretty sure there were two or three exits...
Leg number two.
My trip now has two legs. Things are looking up.
US-STOP-19
So the drive up to Gulf Breeze started in good old Tarpon Springs. Just head north until you reach I-10 and then go west. Problem is, US-19 North is the most infuriating road ever created. So in order for the reader to understand how annoying it is to stop every other minute, I will type the rest of this entry like US-19 is built.
So I made it to Gulf Breeze pretty easily
STOP
with only one...
The first leg of the journey.
This is very familiar territory. I’ve driven this route about 7000 times. Which, given the amount of gas it would take to drive that far, makes me solely responsible for global warming.
When Gulf Breeze…when indeed…

First look: USF coach Skip Holtz lands in Tampa

I’m definitely drinking the Kool-Aid on this hire. I’ve been reading every post on the St. Pete Times website since coach Leavitt was fired and I have to say, I like the hire. I especially like the winning record, the championships, and of course the Bull horns in the photo.
So...nevermind... →
Okay, so how’s that for my first real post?
Me: ‘I want Tuberville!’
World: ‘No!’
Me: ‘Okay then…’
I won’t bother posting who I think would be my second choice for head coach. Whoever I choose will inevitably be off the market the next morning. Or, I could embrace the fact that the sports gods take pleasure in making me look foolish, and...
Irony? →
I’ll be honest, my understanding of irony isn’t top notch so I could be way off base, but if nothing else it’s a huge coincidence that the Lightning had to have their game postponed because of a lighting failure.
Who I'd want to see as Bulls head coach...
A number of names have already been thrown around, including current USF coaches Mike Canales and Carl Franks, both of whom are great. Personally, I’d like to see Tommy Tuberville make his way down to Tampa. The guy knows how to recruit, how to win (even in the SEC), and most of all has expressed interest in coaching in Florida...
